As the weeks go by, the list of invitations to the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours gets longer. After Pure Rxcing - GT World Challenge Europe Bronze Cup champion - we now know the two drivers who have won the Bob Akin Award and the Jim Trueman Award. These two awards are presented to Bronze Cup drivers in IMSA in LMP2 and GTD.

Although he is champion, Ben Keating did not receive an invitation to La Sarthe, unlike George Kurtz, who scored 2120 points compared to 2070 for his American rival. Kurtz, the boss of Crowdstrike, is set to return to IMSA next year with Algarve Pro Racing, which will be known as Crowstrike Racing by APR. Logically, he should be able to pass on his precious pass to the Portuguese outfit, with whom he won the LMP2 Pro-Am last June.

And what about Iribe, who was presented with the Bob Akin Award despite retiring yesterday? He has strong links with McLaren and has yet to make his 2024 intentions official. First option: either he competes in IMSA with Inception Racing and takes part in Le Mans with them, which would bring the number of 720S GT3s present to three, since this would be in addition to the two run by United Autosports.

Second option: Considered to be one of the best Bronze drivers in the class, he could try his luck in the World Endurance Championship with United Autosports, at which point his invitation would become 'transparent', since if it is accepted in the WEC - which is highly likely - the Anglo-American team would be entered in the 24 Hours in any case.

THE INVITEES TO THE 2024 24 HOURS OF LE MANS TO DATE :

  • LM GT3: Pure Rxcing / Porsche 911 GT3 type 992 (GT World Challenge Europe Bronze Cup champion)
  • LM GT3: Brendan Iribe (IMSA Bob Akin Award winner)
  • LMP2: George Kurtz (winner of the Jim Trueman Award in IMSA)
