The 'Evo' version of the Vantage GT3 was being tested this week in the home of British motorsport.

After six years of loyal service, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will give way to its 'Evo' version in 2024. The car, which is in its final phase of development, was testing in Silverstone at the beginning of the week with a camo livery.

Many aerodynamic changes are clearly visible, notably in the wheel arches, the rear wing, the splitter... In short, the engineers have endeavoured to eliminate as far as possible all the weaknesses of the previous version.

"Aston Martin is offering an Evo version based on the current Vantage GT3 which, in my opinion, is closer to a new car" Head of AMR customer Racing Ben Bourdaire told us a few days ago. "There are quite a few changes, notably to the aero window and suspension. The modifications are quite substantial, as the whole suspension system changes, including the mounting points, shock absorbers, wishbones, hub carriers, rack, differential, aero pack, the whole underside of the car and also the front end, that could be changed in one go. Aston Martin has never invested so much in a GT3. The current model is still a top performer, but with a rather limited operating window, as it was the GTE's little sister. The GTE was designed as a Pro car. So compromises had to be made. The new GT3 is designed as a GT3 to meet the new regulations."

According to our information, several of the official drivers were there, including Darren Turner, and all of them would have said that "it is a big step".

The Vantage GT3 'Evo' will be available for all the championships in which it is eligible, from the IMSA SportsCar Championship to the FIA WEC, the GT World Challenge and the list goes on, and "It's entirely possible to upgrade the current Vantage GT3 model to EVO, which will be the case for a number of existing teams" Bourdaire told us.

First race: the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship, at the end of January.
