Retired from Formula 1, Sebastian Vettel could well be tempted by an adventure in endurance racing, if the rumours heard in the paddocks are to be believed. His name came up again at the Fanatec GT meeting at Hockenheim.

However, it's not in GT that the four-time F1 world champion is likely to put his helmet again. According to our information, Sebastian Vettel will be testing an Oreca 07 from the Jota team.

This is the same Jota team that races a Porsche 963 in the WEC and is due to switch to two prototypes in the top class in 2024.

Rumours were again last weekend in the Suzuka paddock during the F1 GP, but there was no confirmation of any programme.

Hertz Team Jota could even bring together a trio of former Formula 1 drivers in one of its two Porsche 963s, as Robert Kubica and Jenson Button are also in the sights along with another top ex-F1 driver.

Nothing has yet been confirmed, however, as it's not out of the question that Robert Kubica could drive for another manufacturer in a hypercar, and not necessarily the one everyone is thinking of. As for Jenson Button, he will shortly be in IMSA for the Petit Le Mans final at JDC Miller Motorsports, already driving a Porsche 963.

The arrival of Sebastian Vettel would give the WEC an extra boost. When you consider that the German driver's bio reads 'There is still a race to win', perhaps the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be the next one...
