The Belgian driver saved the best for last to lap 0.217s quicker than Pierre Kaffer, who had set the pace for the majority of the 60-minute session, in the LP Racing Audi he shares with Michael Doppelmayr.

Things were even closer further down the field, with True Racing KTM’s Reinhard Kofler and Hubert Trunkenpolz seizing third fastest by 0.052s from LP Racing’s Henry Hassid and Anthony’s Beltoise’s, who in turn claimed fourth by 0.006s from the sister Audi of Stephane Ratel and Mattia di Giusto. Benjamin and Mauro Ricci completed the top six in Pro-Am for Akkodis ASP.

Adding a second Mercedes-AMG GT2 to the grid for the first time this weekend, Akkodis ASP topped the Am class times thanks to the combined efforts of Christophe Bourret and Jean Luc Beaubelique.

Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini came within 0.3 of the #87 car’s quickest time in the #16 True Racing KTM X-BOW, chased all the way by Leonardo Gorini’s #911 Ebimotors Porsche. Current class championship leader, Jan Krabec rounded out the Am top four for RTR Projects.

Action from the fourth round of the Fanatec GT2 European Series in the Algarve continues with the second practice session at 10:10 tomorrow. Qualifying then follows at 14:10 ahead of the first race of the weekend at 16:40.
