After Monza, the FIA WEC heads to Fuji (Japan) for the sixth meeting of the season, where 36 cars have been confirmed on the grid for September 10.

The Hypercar category includes 12 prototypes following the withdrawal of the Glickenhaus 007 LMH. In any case, Jim Glickenhaus had been raising doubts for several months about his car's presence on Japanese soil. For the rest, there's nothing new in the land of the rising sun. Floyd Vanwall Racing Team will continue to rely on Esteban Guerrieri, Tristan Vautier and Joao Paulo de Oliveira. The two privately-entered Porsche 963s will also be present, with Hertz Team Jota and Proton Competition.

In LMP2, Juan Manuel Correa is back in the #9 Oreca 07/Prema alongside Filip Ugran and Bent Viscaal. Louis Delétraz, Robert Kubica and Rui Andrade will take command of the championship for Team WRT with a 10-point lead over Fabio Scherer, Jakub Smiechowski and Albert Costa, the three LMP2 24 Hours of Le Mans winners for Inter Europol Competition.

There were no changes in the GTE-Am class, with the exception of the return of PJ Hyett, Gunnar Jeannette and Matteo Cairoli in the #56 Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR. Julien Piguet continues his adventure in the #21 Ferrari 488 GTE/AF Corse with Ulysse de Pauw and Simon Mann. Absent from Monza, the Aston Martin Vantage GTE/NorthWest AMR of Ian James, Daniel Mancinelli and Alex Riberas will be present at Fuji Speedway.

Last September, Toyota Gazoo Racing secured a one-two finish on home soil, with WRT winning the LMP2 class ahead of the two Jota prototypes. AF Corse took the GTE-Pro double and TF Sport won the GTE-Am ahead of the Iron Dames.
