With two races remaining before the end of the 2023 World Endurance Championship season, three titles have already been awarded. Corvette Racing and the trio of Nico Varrone / Ben Keating / Nicky Catsburg have already claimed the Teams and Drivers crowns in GTE Am.

➡️ Championship update after Monza

As for Team Jota, its 100-point lead over Proton Competition in the Teams Hypercar standings makes it unassailable. There is little glory to be drawn from this, as the British team made its debut at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, while its German rival only started its Porsche 963 at the 6 Hours of Monza.

Titles already awarded :

  • Hypercar Teams: Team Jota
  • GTE Am Teams: Corvette Racing
  • GTE Am Drivers: Nico Varrone / Ben Keating / Nicky Catsburg

But what about the rest? The eight-hour final in Bahrain will give the winners up to 39 points if they claim pole position the day before. Added to the 26 points that can be scored at the Fuji 6 Hours, the competitors with the perfect end to their campaign can still add 65 units to their current quota. So who can still mathematically win at the end of the first five rounds of the season?

Hypercar

MANUFACTURERS: As a reminder, only the best of the two eligible cars scores points at the end of each race. And at the end of the 6 Hours of Monza, only Toyota and Ferrari can still claim the world title.

The Japanese manufacturer has the advantage with a total of 152 points, 26 more than its Italian rival. With four wins to the Italian's one, Toyota will still lead the overall standings going into the final.

DRIVERS: Things are a little tighter here. While the Buemi / Hartley / Hirakawa team has - with 115 points - 23 more than Lopez / Conway / Kobayashi and Calado / Giovinazzi / Pier Guidi, six trios can still dream of the title.

With 71 and 52 points respectively, it would obviously take more than a cataclysm for Bamber/Lynn/Westbrook or Christensen/Makowiecki/Cameron to add their names to the trophy cabinet.

It's also looking complicated for Nielsen / Fuoco / Molina, entered in the N°50 499P, who have a 30-length deficit on the leaders.

LMP2

In LMP2, the Teams and Drivers rankings are intertwined. And eight teams are still officially eligible for the title. But here too, for some (Prema #63, Team WRT #31, Jota #28 and even Alpine Team #36), the mission looks impossible.

Team WRT #41, with its trio of Andrade / Delétraz / Kubica, has an exemplary consistency with four podiums including one victory in five races and is clearly in the best position. Particularly as its closest rival, Inter Europol Competition, is not as comfortable in 'short' races as it was in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where its victory has - moreover - still not been made fully official.

After the 6 Hours of Monza, the #41 Team WRT is ten points clear of the Polish team and its Albert Costa / Fabio Scherer / Kuba Smiechowski. Next in line are the two United Autosports cars, with the #22 of Hanson / Lubin and the #23 of Jarvis / Pierson trailing by 28 and 37 points respectively.
