WEC / 6 H. of Monza - New names on the entry list, including Glickenhaus

Next week, the WEC resumes at Monza for the fifth round of the season, the first after the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On home soil, the Ferrari AF Corse team will be particularly eagerly awaited by what is expected to be a large crowd.

 

A number of changes to the usual line-up have already been unveiled, including the first appearance of the Proton Competition Porsche 963 hypercar. The car's livery was revealed on the WEC website (see above) and it will be driven by Gianmaria Bruni / Harry Tincknell / Neel Jani. João Paulo de Oliveira replaces Tom Dillmann on the n°4 Vanwall Vandervell 680.

 

Nathanaël Berthon (⬇️) is a newcomer in the n°708 Glickenhaus. The Frenchman, who will form a 100% French trio in the sole 007 entered alongside Romain Dumas (who took pole last year) and Olivier Pla.

In LMP2, Ben Hanley and Giedo van der Garde will replace Filipe Albuquerque and Tom Blomqvist respectively in the #22 and #23 Oreca 07s for United Autosports, the two regular starters being retained in IMSA. Andrea Caldarelli will replace in the n°9 Prema Racing Oreca 07 Juan Manuel Correa, who will be at Silverstone for Formula 2. Due to DTM, Andrea Bortolotti will give up his place to Mathias Beche in the sister car, the n°63.

 

Finally, in the GTE Am class, Julien Piguet will drive the N°21 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE. The Frenchman, who will support Simon Mann and Ulysse de Pauw, was not even able to take the wheel at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, his car being forced to retire in the second hour of the race due to contact. Daniel Serra in Brazil for the Stock Car Pro Series, the Brazilian is replaced by Kei Cozzolino in the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari.

 

It remains to be seen who will join Matteo Cairoli in the #56 Project 1-AO Porsche 911 RSR-19, as Gunnar Jeannette and PJ Hyett will be at Tire Motorsport Park for the sixth round of the IMSA season.

 

The fifth round of the 2023 WEC season is scheduled for Sunday July 9, with a 12:30 start.
