With Le Mans in their sights, all the manufacturers in the hypercar category are completing their final test sessions. While Porsche and Ferrari were at Monza, Toyota will shakedown its cars on 17 and 18 May and Peugeot will be at Magny-Cours next week, Cadillac was at the Autodrómo International do Algarve from 8 to 10 May.

A car was requisitioned for the occasion on this track, which was used by the V-Series.R in the second round of the 2023 World Endurance Championship. Of the six Cadillac Racing drivers, only Sébastien Bourdais was missing. Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook - who will share the No. 2 car for the entire 2023 WEC campaign - were present, along with Renger van der Zande and Scott Dixon.

“These couple of days have been crucial in our preparation for Le Mans,” explained Bamber. “I feel we’ve made some good steps forward. It’s been our first proper test as a European WEC team, and it was great to come back to a track that we’ve already raced at, know the areas that we could focus on and work on.”

Scott Dixon, who will be competing in his fifth Le Mans Classic in June, is also optimistic with a month to go before the start of the centenary edition. “I feel now we’re very well prepared for Le Mans coming up so quick,” he said. “It’s fantastic to see how much Cadillac Racing is pushing, Chip Ganassi Racing is pushing. It’s really formed a strong team and I’m excited for the 24 hours.”

In addition to the two V-Series.R's run by Chip Ganassi Racing, the #311 Action Express Racing car will be run by the trio of Pipo Derani, Alexander Sims and Jack Aitken.
