The Project 1 - AO team will not be able to take part in the race itself due to a serious accident in the Eau Rouge during qualifying for the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Driver PJ Hyett crashed so badly at the start of qualifying that he had to be taken to hospital. There it turned out that there were no serious injuries, nevertheless participation in the FIA WEC 6H of Spa is not possible due to the damage to the RSR.

"We were of course very concerned about PJ's condition, the impact was quite severe," said team boss Axel Funke. "We assume that he will be top fit again until Le Mans, we know about his speed and that we are able to win with him, Gunnar, Matteo and the team. I'm very happy that he's already feeling better."

The damage to the Porsche 911 RSR-19 was more than considerable, so participation in the 6 Hours was no longer possible anyway. Next week, the damage to the Porsche will be assessed at the home base in Lohne. The team has so much experience and is so professional and well-equipped that Funke is not worried about participating in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans with a good and competitive RSR.
