Am-European champion W&S Motorsport ready for start of 2023 GT4 European Series season
W&S Motorsport celebrated a well-deserved victory in the Am drivers' championship in its debut season in the GT4 European Series last year and is looking to build on this great success in 2023. With two Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, the team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas will compete in the strong and popular SRO Motorsports Group racing series and fight for points in the Pro-Am classification.
Sharing the work at the wheel of the Rodopi-designed #30 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport will be the proven German driver duo of Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still. Both racers were already chasing points for W&S Motorsport in the GT4 European Series and the ADAC GT4 Germany last season. Charles Dawson from Great Britain and Gustavo Xavier from Switzerland will take turns in the cockpit of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #442.
Twice in Italy, once each in France, Belgium, Germany and Spain are the venues of the GT4 European Series, which will offer thrilling motorsport with an international line-up of over 50 GT4 cars on the grid. The season kicks off with two races per weekend from 22 to 24 April in Monza. At the beginning of June, the Circuit Paul Ricard will host rounds three and four. The highlight will be at the legendary 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, from 29 June to 1 July 2023. Further stops are the circuits in Misano, Hockenheim and Barcelona.
Quotes before the season
Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "The Pro-Am class will be a great challenge, but we are well prepared to face it. Traditional race tracks all over Europe and thrilling duels during the races await us. After last year's successes, we are looking forward to being part of the GT4 European Series again with a strong driver line-up and a motivated team. Max and Hendrik are a well-established team and they work extremely well together, which promises top results. Charles and Gustavo are also a proven duo and showed in testing that we can perform strongly with both cars on a regular basis. We are ready to go!"
Max Kronberg, Driver #30: "After many good results last year, I want to score even more points with Hendrik by my side in 2023. The team always does a great job and if we can hold our own at the front of the field again, we can have a say in the Pro-Am championship."
Charles Dawson, Driver #442: "Pre-season testing went really well. The car was set up very nicely and was good fun to drive. Having Gustavo alongside me has really helped and together with the crew we are starting with a lot of confidence. Our aim for Monza will be to score lots of points in the Pro-Am class."
