Reema Juffali : looking to the GT World Challenge Europe
How did the step to the GT World Challenge come about?
One of the biggest championships is the GT World Challenge. The grid is very big, with a high level and quality of drivers. You're racing against the best in the most challenging environment and this is the most realistic championship for us to make our way to our goal, which is competing at Le Mans. What also solidified the decision is that the winner of the bronze category will get a free entry into Le Mans, so it works very well with our racing goals and aspirations.
What are you most looking forward to about the GT World Challenge?
I'm really looking forward to quite a lot of things. I’ve previously been to a race that was held at Brands Hatch. The crowds, the amount of cars on track, there always seems to be something going on. Whether the endurance races are short or long, there's never a moment to relax. There’s a general feeling you don't really get in the shorter races; the action keeps you on your toes. That's something I'm looking forward to.
I'm also looking forward to visiting some new tracks as I still haven't been to a few of the circuits on the calendar and visiting a new track is always an eye-opening experience. It also goes without saying but being back on the road with the team and seeing where we go will be exciting.
What does the new championship entry mean to you?
On a personal level, this year I feel like I'm coming in with my eyes open and an understanding of the endurance grid. I'm ready and excited to be taking on a new challenge and doing what we planned to do from the outset, which was bring trainees in and make the team a platform for others to come into the sport and learn from the best. So that part of this season is something I'm looking forward to.
As a team owner, what would you say your biggest learning is that you're taking into the new season?
I think it has to do with being prepared for anything that's going to come my way. The disappointment or the obstacles that happen sometimes seem a lot bigger, because I have to consider the team as a whole, rather than just me as a driver. But with everything, there is a lesson to be learned and I think that although my expectations are high, I'm ready for whatever will come my way.
