With less than three weeks to go until the opening round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship season, Vector Sport is pleased to announce two confirmed drivers in its LMP2 line up for the No.10 ORECA-07 Gibson entry.

Frenchman Gabriel Aubry comes to the team with solid, race-proven experience, with a runner-up placing in the 2018-19 WEC season and 24 Hours of Le Mans (both LMP2) as the highlights to date of a successful sportscar career.  The 24-year-old has worked with some of the top teams in endurance racing, and his knowledge and familiarity with the ORECA will be invaluable to the team’s 2023 line up.

Alongside him will be Matthias Kaiser from Liechtenstein (32) who moves onto the world stage after two years competing in the European Le Mans Series.  The 2019 Ultimate Cup Series Challenge Proto-LMP3 Champion has made steady and good progress in just six years of competition through the ladder of endurance racing, and now makes the move to the WEC with Vector Sport.

This will be the UK-based team’s second season in WEC, and the LMP2 campaign will be run alongside the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione Hypercar test and development programme – a programme resulting from the partnership between Vector Sport and the Italian manufacturer.

Gary Holland, Team Principal of Vector Sport said of the two driver signings: “We are delighted to welcome Gabi and Matthias to the team. We have had a strong pre-season and are very much looking forward to the Prologue & Race. We’re confident their individual qualities, drive and determination will help us continue to make a mark in what we know is going to be an intensely competitive season.”

Matthias Kaiser added: “I am super excited to take this step to the WEC together with Gabi and the whole crew of Vector Sport. After a season in the LMP2 in the ELMS, I am looking forward to further grow my experience in a new championship and to keep working towards an exciting and successful season.  There is a great level competition in the LMP2 field and it’s certainly an exciting year to come!”

Gabriel Aubry commented: “I'm very happy to start with Vector my 6th WEC season and my 5th in the LMP2 class.  I started my endurance career with Gary back in 2017, and with many of the people here at Vector. After a difficult couple of seasons, I'm really looking to building myself back up with the support from the guys here. Everything is looking right to perform at the highest level this season and I can't wait to be in Sebring.”

Despite only a short time between the 2022 WEC freight being returned to teams and it having to leave again for sea freight to the USA, Vector Sport achieved a productive and intensive test programme in both Portugal and France.  The new drivers will be re-united with their 2023 car for The Prologue in Sebring on 11/12th March.
