Reigning champion Ian Loggie joins 2 Seas Motorsport with Jules Gounon
This announcement confirms a third full season competing in the British GT series for 2 Seas Motorsport. After debuting in 2020, the team made a return for the full championship effort last year and remained in the title battle until the final round.
Ian is no stranger to the team, scoring a podium finish at the Gulf 12 Hours at the start of last season. This result was a foundation for a trophy-filled campaign for Ian who went on to score podium results in GT World Challenge Europe, FIA Motorsport Games, 24H GT Series and GT Cup, as well as the overall Asian Le Mans Series and British GT titles. These results also scored him special recognition claiming the Mercedes-AMG Championship and Driver GT3 Classification at the brand’s ‘Night of the Stars’ event.
Partnering with Ian for the season will be Jules Gounon, who has enjoyed significant success with Mercedes-AMG since joining in 2021. Already this season, Jules has taken a record third win at the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hours and added the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona to his list of endurance. Standout results beyond these for the 28-year-old include double honours at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours and Spa, the latter of which helped secure the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup title in 2022. He returns to the British GT grid having made an impressive debut last year, scoring podiums at each of the four events he contested alongside Ian, including victory at the opening event at Oulton Park.
We are delighted to welcome back Ian, and have Jules join the team for the 2023 British GT campaign. Both drivers have scored some strong results over the past few years, and we had some great battles with them last season. Ian is one of the most experienced drivers on the British GT grid and looking to retain his championship title, while Jules’ list of accolades while racing in a Mercedes-AMG is second to none, including impressive results at Daytona and Bathurst already this year.
With this pair on track, and the experienced team we have put together over the past few months, we are confident we can help them push for another strong season. We will also be confirming a second formidable driver line-up in the coming days, which we think could set the cat amongst the pigeons, so it is going to be an exciting year.
Nick Cristofaro, 2 Seas Motorsport co-owner
