The three are well-established members of the Belgian squad. For Frijns and Habsburg, who have been involved in Team WRT’s LMP2 programme since its inception, this will be their third consecutive campaign, while Gelael will be contesting his second. Frijns and Habsburg were part of the trio that took the class title in the FIA WEC and a memorable class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021. Gelael and Frijns shared three LMP2 race wins last year.

Frijns the Dutchman, Indonesian Gelael and Austrian Habsburg join the already announced line-up of car #41, composed of Rui Andrade, Louis Delétraz and Robert Kubica.

The FIA WEC season will kick off with the pre-season collective test scheduled on 11-12 March at Sebring, Florida, one week ahead of the opening round of the championship, which will take place in the iconic American track.

Team WRT Principal Vincent Vosse“We are very happy to announce our other line-up for the 2023 FIA WEC, which contains no surprises, as you can see. Robin, Sean and Ferdi were already part of the WRT family, and for quite a long time in the case of Robin, who first drove for us in 2015, and they all have been instrumental in the success of our LMP2 programme. Together with Rui, Louis and Robert, they make up a very strong set of drivers, which is an absolute must-have in such a competitive environment. We have high objectives and we can’t wait to be on track for the first round.”

Robin Frijns: “Happy to be back in the WEC to drive for WRT, the last two seasons have been quite successful. Even though last year we were one of the quickest, there were a couple of issues, especially Le Mans which hurt us in the championship big time, despite winning three other races! Sharing the car again with Sean, and my other good friend Habsburg, who I shared with two years ago when we won both the championship and Le Mans. So it all looks very promising to have another successful season!”

Sean Gelael: “Super pumped for the season! Robin is back! And every Robin needs a Batman… So we have two - Me and Ferdi! Happy to finally be racing with Ferdi. We’ve always talked about sharing a car but never been able to make it happen until now. Super excited and ready to push for the title. It’s been two seasons I’ve been vice champion, so close, but this year… third times a charm!”

Ferdinand Habsburg: “I am buzzing to embark on season number four with my WRT family! This level of continuity is rare in motorsport, and I am grateful for their trust in me. I’ve been part of WRT’s LMP2 project from the beginning, and I am excited to represent them in a historic season like this. I am stoked to be reunited with my good friend Robin and happy to share a car with my friend Sean. The #31 crew is going for the title, and I can't wait to hit the track in March! Thanks to my partners, REMUS Performance Sport Exhausts, AVL Racetech, Jansen Competition and Bell Racing for making it all happen!"
