We mentioned it before the Rookie Test in Bahrain, and it should be confirmed soon : Stoffel Vandoorne is set to succeed James Rossiter as Peugeot Sport's test and reserve driver in the World Endurance Championship. A role that he also occupies within the Aston Martin Racing F1 Team.

Supposed to discover the 9X8 on the Sakhir International Circuit, the day after the final race of WEC 2022 season, the Belgian with 41 F1 starts with McLaren had unfortunately had to cancel his travel to the due to appendicitis.

But already a member of Stellantis Motorsport as a DS Penske driver in Formula E, it would have been strange not to entrust him with this role. As a reminder, he entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. Third overall in 2019 with BR Engineering, he finished second in LMP2 in 2021 in an Oreca 07 for Jota Sport.

In 2023, the two 9X8s will be driven by the same crews as last year : Jean-Eric Vergne / Paul di Resta / Mikkel Jensen and Loïc Duval / Gustavo Menezes / Nico Müller.
