As planned, Dries Vanthoor has followed WRT to BMW. It would have been a mistake for the Munich-based manufacturer not to hire this young driver in view of his talent, not only in GT3, but also in Prototype, as he showed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 6 Hours of Fuji.

After winning the 24 Hours of Dubai, the three-time outgoing GT World Challenge Sprint Cup champion headed to the Daytona International Speedway. The 24 year old Belgian is not on the entry list, but is the reserve driver for the BMW M Team RLL. Surprisingly as he has never yet taken the wheel of the M Hybrid V8 LMDh made by BMW.

As a reminder, the two cars will be driven by Eng-Farfu-Wittmann-Herta and De Philippi-Yelloly-Van der Linde-Herta.
