Vector Sport is pleased to confirm that it has been awarded a place on the LMP2 grid for the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship season.  The No.10 ORECA 07-Gibson will be fielded by the UK based team for the second successive season, and the driver line up will be announced soon.

The team made its debut in March 2022, and capped its debut season in WEC with a strong podium in only the team’s fourth ever race. This clearly indicated that the team was on the right path to success and fully worthy of its place within the ultra-competitive category.

Isotta Fraschini Hypercar Partnership  While disappointed that the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione Hypercar has not been granted a full-season entry to the 2023 FIA WEC, this news does not affect the partnership in place between the Italian manufacturer and Vector Sport.

More time will now be available to enter into a full test and development programme for the new Hypercar, to ready it for a race debut hopefully later in 2023.  The car is already well into the build process in Italy and is on schedule for its test and homologation programme.

Gary Holland, Team Principal of Vector Sport added: “We are delighted with the news that Vector Sport have been awarded a place on the LMP2 grid.  It’s once again incredibly competitive but we are confident that, with the lessons learned and experience gained in 2022, we will be in a strong position to challenge for race wins this season. We have a solid package in place, a great team of people with relevant expertise, and we know exactly what we need to do to win.

“As far as the Isotta Fraschini Hypercar entry is concerned, obviously we are a little disappointed there was no place on the full-season grid but we now have much more time to enter into a full test and development programme for the new Tipo 6 LMH Competizione. This follows the example of other manufacturers in the recent past and we will be aiming to enter the car on a race-by-race basis later in the season, if accepted by the FIA and WEC.”
