IMSA confirms LMP2 slowdown at Daytona

We told you about it on December 7, and it is now confirmed. Just like in the WEC, the LMP2 cars will be slowed down for the 24 Hours of Daytona, to increase the gap with the cars of the new GTP category. A solution that was tested during IMSA-sanctioned tests.

 

The diameter of the air restrictor was set at 35 mm. The engine speed of the Gibson V8, previously limited to 8,700 rpm, will be limited to 8,000 rpm from first to fifth gear and 8,500 rpm in sixth gear.

 

The minimum weight of the car was also increased from 940 to 950 kg, and the minimum refuelling time was increased by ten seconds to forty.

As you can see from the table below, two aerodynamic configurations are also possible. The number of dive planes used at the front depends on the size of the tail wicker, the possible positions of the rear wing and the size of the rear wing flip wicker.
