Instigator of the Iron Dames project, the Frenchwoman lived a dream last weekend in Portimão, where the trio Bovy-Gatting-Pin wrote the history of the ELMS.

On Saturday, it was already the talk of the town. Sarah Bovy, in the pink #83 Ferrari 488 GTE, became the first woman to take pole position in the series. But the best was yet to come. Second in Spa, the Iron Dames did not let their chance slip away this time, making history by becoming the first 100% female crew to win in the European Le Mans Series.

In addition to the flawless performance of Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Doriane Pin, the #83 Ferrari was able to rely on a perfect strategy, preferring at one point to stay on track under Full Course Yellow while their rivals preferred to go to the pits. In the end, Gatting crossed the line with a one-lap lead over the rest of the GTE field !

This has really been the perfect weekend for the Iron Dames project, to get a first pole position for a female driver in ELMS and then become the first all-female line up to win a race in the series in the same weekend is something I find very moving and makes me incredibly proud, Déborah Mayer said. This weekend’s success is proof that the Iron Dames project is working and it is succeeding as a result of the everyone’s efforts, the whole team made this happen. The project is about motivation, determination, strong performance, but above all we are women driven by dreams with a strong message behind us and lots of passion. We race to inspire women to follow their dreams and take the first step into motorsport, because as we’ve shown today, it is possible to make it happen.”

This victory also allowed Iron Lynx to finish in third place in the team rankings, which means that they are automatically invited to the centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It would be impossible to end this European campaign in a better way.
