Multiple British and European GT3 championship-winning team, Barwell Motorsport, has confirmed that it is planning its future in the category with Lamborghini’s new for 2023 Huracan EVO2 – the latest version of the Italian manufacturer’s highly successful GT3 car. We will also be making some exciting announcements in due course about some very interesting developments with new commercial partners, as we seek to spread our wings further in international motorsport. As part of this expansion Barwell has a keen interest in competing in the Le Mans 24 Hours, with the legendary race set to run its GT class to GT3-based regulations from 2024. Hence for the ’24 season we are planning on contesting the European Le Mans Series and have a high-profile driver line-up being developed for this campaign.  The team is also currently seeking drivers to join us on what is sure to be a very exciting journey ahead.

Barwell has been an official customer team of Lamborghini Squadra Corse since the introduction of the first Huracan GT3 in 2016, and since then has claimed two overall drivers titles in the British GT Championship and five drivers titles in the GT World Challenge Europe/Blancpain Endurance Series as well as three class victories in the blue riband Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours event. In addition to this the Surrey-based outfit has also competed successfully in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and Creventic 24 Hour series both in Europe and the Middle East. Much of this success with Lamborghini has been with cars supported by our long-term partner, Black Bull Scotch Whisky, and this relationship is also set to strengthen and continue into the future.

In 2023 the team will be continuing in the British GT Championship and will be looking to get back to running a two-car squad again in the highly competitive top-flight domestic GT series. With our 2021 British GT champion Leo Machitski unfortunately still side-lined, we currently have a vacancy in our multiple title-winning BGT driver line-up.  Meanwhile in Europe Barwell is planning on expanding its operations and making a return to the Michelin Le Mans Cup, in addition to continuing to run a programme in the GT World Challenge Europe. Outside of Europe we are also looking at contesting the Dubai 24 Hours again in January, as well as potentially being involved in some of the key endurance races in America which are part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
