Jules Gounon was roughed up on the track during the IMSA race at VIRginia International Raceway when he went slightly off the track on a fairly twisty track. The Mercedes-AMG driver then lost his breath with a back pain. An X-ray after the race did not reveal any fractured vertebrae.

The back pain did not go away, so the Ardéchois underwent an MRI today which detected two small fractures in the vertebrae. The recent winner of the 24 Hours of Spa will therefore take some time off before returning to drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Jules Gounon will not be seen this weekend in British GT at RAM Racing in Brands Hatch. His presence in the GT World Challenge the following week in Valencia in the ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3/Akkodis with Jim Pla remains uncertain. We can count on his return to the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring (September 23/25), one week before the GT World Challenge in Barcelona where he plays the title.
