In a press release issued on 24 June, Porsche confirmed its intention to run the 8 Hours of Bahrain (12 November) out of class in order to prepare for the 2023 season. This will be an opportunity to take on the Toyota, Peugeot and Glickenhaus before a campaign where the objective will be to win from the outset.

"The official competition debut of the Porsche 963 is scheduled for January 2023 at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the USA," it said. "In the meantime, the FIA WEC has opened the door to ''testing'' at the next races on the current world championship menu. Porsche Penske Motorsport is still considering an out-of-competition dress rehearsal for the final round of the season in Bahrain in November."

Unfortunately, according to our information, this will not happen. Delayed by problems with the MGU and lengthy delays in the supply of parts, the 963 is not yet ready to face the competition and the decision has been taken not to go to Sakhir.

The 963 will make its first race appearance at the 24 Hours of Daytona (28-29 January). To see it against the 9X8, the GR010 and - let's hope - the 007 LMH, we will have to wait until the 1000 miles of Sebring, on March.
