4 H. of Barcelona - FP2 : IDEC continues to lead the way

After setting the fastest time in FP1, the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca-Gibson posted the fastest time in the second and final 90-minute practice session ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying for Sunday’s 4 Hours of Barcelona, round 4 of the 2022 European Le Mans Series.

Paul Loup Chatin lapped the 4.675km Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 1m35.780, just 0.027s behind yesterday’s best time, and three tenths ahead of his nearest rival.

 

The no24 Nielsen Racing Oreca of Ben Hanley was second quickest, claiming the top LMP2 Pro-Am time with a 1m36.094 lap.Hanley was 0.326s ahead of Tom Gamble in the no22 United Autosports Oreca-Gibson, with the no19 Algarve Pro racing Oreca of Bent Viscaal in 4th spot just 0.002s behind Gamble and the no65 Panis Racing Oreca finishing the session in 5th just 0.003s behind Viscaal.

 

The no5 RLR MSport Ligier was the quickest of the 12 LMP3 competitors with Alex Kapadia posting a 1m43.333, 0.302s ahead of the no14 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Mateusz Kaprzyk.United Autosports continued to run near the top, with the no3 Ligier posting the third fastest time of the session on 1m43798, 0.5 seconds ahead of the no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine.

It was Ferrari’s turn to head the timing screens, with the no57 Kessel Racing 488 GTE EVO setting the best class time in the 90-minute session.Mikkel Jensen set a 1m45.438 lap time, 0.306s faster than the best time set in FP1, and 0.353s ahead of the no83 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Michelle Gatting.

 

The no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari was third quickest with a 1m45.904, 0.216s ahead of the no18 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 RSR-19 in fourth.

 

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Barcelona will take place this afternoon with the LMGTE session at 15h45, followed by LMP3 at 16h05 and then LMP2 at 16h25.
