Fred Makowiecki: "Evolving without distorting"
24 Aug. 2022 ‧ 16:00
At 41 years, Fred Makowiecki is one of the most reliable names in endurance racing. As comfortable in his role as a race driver as he is in development, the official Porsche driver, who won the GTE-Pro category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, is still not official on the Hypercar prototype that he has developed. Motorsport is sometimes strange. The Frenchman confided in Endurance-Info: the evolution of motorsport and circuits, race management, the BOP which can prevent any questioning, etc... An interview where Mako says out loud what many people think.
Since you started, the evolution of motorsport is important?
"We live in strange times! The evolution of motorsport is important and I have the impression that we have not taken the time to make the appropriate changes. When something works, we tend to apply it elsewhere. I think you have to take the time to analyse the success and find out what people are interested in. Why is modern history so popular? Fans are close to the cars and they see cars that made them dream when they were younger."
