Christophe Hamon's weekend in Spa was divided between the GT4 European Series and the 24 Hours of Spa. If the two GT4 races were complicated, the Ardennes classic allowed the rookie to climb on the podium in Pro-Am.

Experienced in GT4 racing with Fullmotorsport, Christophe Hamon has moved up to the big leagues with his debut in the 24 Hours of Spa. The rookie has confidence in JBR Management, the structure of Jules Gounon and Bastien Ostian, to help him achieve his goal. The Am French FFSA GT Champion and European GT4 Champion (Am) came back from Spa with the third step of the Pro-Am podium.

No Audi R8 LMS on his agenda for this race but the Porsche 911 GT3 R/Singha Racing TP12 shared with Piti Bhirombhakdi, Tanart Sathienthirakul and Earl Bamber. A great performance for a driver who always wants to do better and move forward.

For your debut in Spa, the objective was to finish?

"I'm too much of a competitor to say to myself that I just want to finish the race. You try to reassure yourself that you are just going there to finish the race. When I saw the performance of the lineup during the official test at the beginning of July, I immediately understood that a good result in the category was possible. I like it when the level is high because I improve every time. With hard work I can do even better and get closer to the front drivers."

Was the contribution of Earl (Bamber) a real plus?

"Humanly speaking, Earl is a great guy. It's quite tricky when you're a rider and you go to the other side. If you have to put more water in the fridge, he does it. The language barrier was not easy but we had a bilingual engineer. There was a lot of sharing during the week. The advantage of driving for Porsche is that everyone has the data of everyone else. So the team can adapt."

So you're taking a lot of positives from this experience?

"Only positive things! I've been thrown into the big league of the biggest GT race in the world. No less than 235 drivers are on the starting grid and I am one of them. On the track, you can't do just anything, even if it's true that I love fighting in a pack. The team was at the top of its game throughout the week. Everything is well organised, everyone is in their place. As far as I am concerned, I have always had fun on the track without ever having the slightest problem with anyone. I drove 5 hours and 20 minutes and I finished with a double stint, which was new for me. I am very satisfied with this. The car evolved a lot during the race, it was different for each stint. At the finish, the Porsche didn't have a single scratch."
