Winner of two of the last three editions of the 24 Hours of Spa, Porsche will be able to count on several teams to take back the trophy this Sunday at 4.45 pm Among them is GPX Martini Racing and its trio of shock drivers who won three years ago.

The 2022 season of GPX Martini Racing starts with the 24H of Spa, a race that the team led by Pierre-Brice Mena won in 2019 with a Porsche 911 GT3 R shared by Kevin Estre, Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen. This same trio will be back in action this weekend for a second success.

Coming into the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe season is anything but easy when you know the level of competitiveness of the series but the technical support of ART Grand Prix is a guarantee of quality. The original plan was to take part in the entire Intercontinental GT Challenge but the move from the Bathurst 12H to a Pro-Am race changed GPX Martini Racing's plans.

"The wish was to return to the 24H of Spa," Pierre-Brice Mena told Endurance-Info at Spa-Francorchamps. "In the past we ran the whole season. This time we start the season with the 24H of Spa. We have a good package, the team has worked very well and the desire to play up front is clearly there."

For its return to the racetrack, GPX Martini Racing will have a special livery which will be revealed later today. The Porsche 911 GT3 R was in camo deco during official testing.

The 2019 winning team can rely on its experience to play at the top of the time sheets among more than 60 GT3s. "Starting the season with the hardest race of the year is not something easy," says Pierre-Brice Mena. "Everyone in the team has the advantage of knowing the car well and our structure is identical to that of 2021. We have completed two days of testing at Magny-Cours before the meeting. The team is ready for Spa."

The post 24H of Spa of GPX Martini Racing is not finalized but the desire to continue in high level competition is clearly the objective. As such, two new Porsche 911 GT3 R cars have been ordered. "The future is not yet defined", explains the main team. "The aim is to continue to use GPX Racing as a platform to promote the other activities of the GPX Extreme entity."

In addition to the racing team, GPX Extreme is very active in historic racing via GPX Historic and the organisation of a meeting in Dubai at the end of the year. Several cars are already confirmed : March Leyton House 871, Pescarolo 01, Tyrrell 011, Porsche RS Spyder, Lotus 91, Maserati MC12, Shadow DN3, Coloni, Porsche 962, Williams FW07C, Ferrari 333 SP, Lola B2K/40, Ferrari 643, Aston Martin DBR9.
