Having already taken part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and currently competing in the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup, COOL Racing / CLX Motorsport is about to discover new horizons. Indeed the team has just confirmed that it will take part in the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series, entering an ORECA 07 LM P2 for the entire championship, with Alexandre Coigny and Malthe Jakobsen behind the wheel.

The team is ambitious for the upcoming second half of this 2022 season, nevertheless the crew is already getting ready to tackle new challenges. COOL Racing / CLX Motorsport is rather used to racing in Europe yet it will be heading to Dubai and Abu Dhabi next year to take part in the four rounds of the Asian Le Mans Series that are scheduled over two consecutive weekends in February (10th-12th and 17th -19th). Four 4-hour races will be awaiting the #37 LM P2 ORECA 07, which will compete in the top class.

Following on a few entries these recent years as part of the World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series, Alexandre Coigny will make his comeback in competition. The Swiss driver will be joined by Danish Malthe Jakobsen, who races for COOL Racing / CLX Motorsport in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the European LMS and who currently leads the LMP3 class halfway through the 2022 season.

Alexandre Coigny, Driver and Team Principal COOL Racing : "I’m glad to come back to LMP2. The 2023 Asian Le Mans Series is a great source of motivation for me, I’m looking forward to it. The team has shown good qualities in the European Le Mans Series as well as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, both in terms of preparation and performance. Malthe is a very promising young driver, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in LMP2. The team will be new to this championship but we’ve got what it takes to achieve excellent results. So we’re going to be ambitious. Our most recent testing sessions went well. I was happy to get back behind the wheel of the ORECA 07 and it’ll be nice to be back on the Dubai and Abu Dhabi racetracks, where I’ve competed before. The Pro-Am format is perfect for the Asian Le Mans Series; there’s no doubt some great battles are awaiting us!”

Anthony Megevand, Sportif Director COOL Racing / CLX Motorsprot : "We’re happy to confirm that we’ll be entering the Asian Le Mans Series. It’s a great championship and an excellent opportunity for COOL Racing / CLX Motorsport to continue to grow. Being able to create a team with both a bronze driver like Alex and an up-and-coming driver like Malthe fits us perfectly as the team’s mind-set and intention has always been not only to be competitive but also to give drivers with different profiles an opportunity to express themselves. The fact that Malthe will be moving up from LMP3 to LMP2 feels quite natural. It’ll be an opportunity for him to express his potential and show what he can do within the next class up. This also reflects the work that we’ve been doing on developing a ladder in order to establish links between the different categories in which the team’s involved. Besides, we’re also working on several programmes which we’ll soon further communicate about.”
