To end the day well, nothing better than a short burst of news, right?
- Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hours winning Mazda 787B will take part in demonstration laps at this year’s Le Mans Classic, which takes place from the 30th June to 3rd July. The ultimate example of Mazda’s ‘Never Stop Challenging’ spirit, the four-rotor Mazda 787B became the first Japanese car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans when Johnny Herbert, Bertrand Gachot and Volker Weidler took the flag in 1991.
- Mike Simpson is set for an exciting career change within Ginetta, standing down from his current position as a Factory Driver to become the new Head of Motorsport. Simpson is the longest serving Ginetta employee since the inauguration of Ginetta into the LNT Group, having been a Factory Driver for 14 years. In that time, he has competed globally in various factory and customer programmes, as well as performing a key role in the development of Ginetta’s fleet of vehicles.
- IMSA officials today confirmed the long-term extension of an agreement with the Stephane Ratel Organization (SRO) that could enable cars built to GT4 technical specifications to continue in IMSA through the 2028 season. Currently, GT4 cars are used in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class.
- Jeroen Bleekemolen will be returning to a team he knows well at Monza next week. The 40-year-old Dutchman will finish the 2022 European Le Mans Series season in the #33 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GTE alongside Fabrizio Crestani and Christian Hook.
- Yesterday, all-female racing team, Iron Dames confirmed its participation at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting, and Rahel Frey driving their Ferrari 488 GTE car up the iconic Hillclimb on all four days of the iconic motoring event.
- Aston Martin’s limited and final-edition V12 Vantage to make public dynamic debut on Goodwood’s famous hillclimb. But we will also see the DBX707. The world’s fastest and most powerful ultra-luxury SUV will make its public debut. The Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar will be back, with its crowd-pleasing naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine.
