Mike Simpson is set for an exciting career change within Ginetta, standing down from his current position as a Factory Driver to become the new Head of Motorsport.

Simpson is the longest serving Ginetta employee since the inauguration of Ginetta into the LNT Group, having been a Factory Driver for 14 years. In that time, he has competed globally in various factory and customer programmes, as well as performing a key role in the development of Ginetta’s fleet of vehicles.

Alongside his driving responsibilities, the Yorkshireman has also maintained a commercial role within Ginetta and been instrumental in the continued growth of the company. A successful few years has included the acquisition of want2race, W2R Trackdays and Blyton Park, plus the opening of SimTrack and launch of Ginetta North America.

As Ginetta continues to be at the forefront of motorsport within the UK and globally, providing drivers with a route of progression from entry level competition to international motorsport platforms, Simpson will now spearhead all on-track related activities within the company, including the four domestic championships, trackdays and driver development.

An exciting time for the company has seen new car production increase significantly following the successful launch and subsequent growth of the Ginetta GT Academy, as well as the introduction of the Ginetta G56 GT4 to the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman: “Mike has been a loyal and dedicated member of our team for well over a decade now. His professionalism as a racing driver and coach, alongside his knowledge of Ginetta and the motorsport industry, made him the obvious candidate to head up our motorsport programmes. We’re excited to see what the future holds.”

Mike Simpson, Ginetta Head of Motorsport: “Developing cars and racing around the world at all levels has been a dream for me and I’ve had some fantastic experiences over the years, but I knew it was time to take a step back from the professional driving.

“Ginetta have given me such a wonderful career to date and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to tackle this new challenge with them. I want to keep Ginetta at the front of UK motorsport, as well as continuing our expansion into new markets globally.

“Across our range of companies in the Ginetta Group we have a fantastic business, intelligent employees and superb customers. I can’t wait to work hard with everyone to grow our sport that has given me so much enjoyment.”
