Tresor by Car Collection put in another remarkable performance in Zandvoort (NL) at the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup 2022 that has been held this past weekend.

The Italian outfit fielded Simon Gachet (FRA)-Christopher Haase (GER) and Mattia Drudi (ITA)-Luca Ghiotto (ITA) that were among the protagonists of the round at the challenging Dutch circuit where they run a splendid Q1 and claimed a great P3 in race one. This result rewarded the team's efforts, allowing the drivers to show their best in the Audis R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

Things have been exciting in Q1 where the two cars have been battling out the pole position. Gachet qualified the #11 car in P2 with a best time of 1’33.190s, which was only 0.045s shy of the pole position time, while Ghiotto was fourth and very close to P3 thanks to his best lap completed after 1’33.297s.

Race 1 started off very well on the dry. Gachet attempted an overtaking move but decided to stay a bit wide to avoid contacts that could have compromised his race. He stayed close to the rivals until the pit stop when positions were shuffled up.

The #11 rejoined in P5 with Haase behind the wheel. A Full Course Yellow compacted the group and in the closing stages Haase recovered up to P3 securing another podium after that claimed in Magny-Cours.

The #12 lineup also contested a good race. Ghiotto managed well the car avoiding contacts into turn one at the melee of the start and then kept a good pace until the pit stop that unfortunately did not happen at the perfect moment. A hiccup with the starter motor cost the car several positions forcing Drudi to a great recovery race. The Italian did not give up and completed some of the moves that were labelled as the best of the weekend and closed his effort in P9.

Things have been trickier on Sunday. A red flag in Q2 when Tresor by car Collection’s drivers were trying to post their fastest time spoiled the end result. Haase qualified the #11 car to P9 in 1’32.934s, while Drudi was right behind him in P10 (1’32.967s).

Both cars kept the starting positions at the getaway avoiding all the contacts that timely happened. The layout of the circuit did not help recover some ground despite the great drives of Drudi and Ghiotto: the #12 car eventually crossed the finish line in P13. The #11 car had to stop a few laps after the start due to a technical problem instead.

Ferdinando Geri (Team Principal): “We must be happy about what proved in Q1 and race-1. Everything went well and we claimed an important podium. Both pairings showed their talent and experience. It was not easy here in Zandvoort, which is a narrow and driven circuit where overtaking is really difficult. In Q2 things did not go our way: we clearly had the pace to be among the front runners, but starting from the fifth row made everything more challenging. We will take home the positives from here and we look forward to the next rounds with great focus”.
