GTE Pro 2022 - The last dance

With Porsche and Ferrari focussing on their hypercar commitments next year, the GTE Pro category is living its last season.

The advent of the Hypercar class will have taken its toll on the GTE Pro. Is this surprising? Certainly not, when you consider that from 2023 onwards, a manufacturer will be able to aim for overall victory in WEC and IMSA with the same car - in other words, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring – thanks to this new main category, and for a budget barely higher than the one required in GTE. And quite logically, Porsche, Ferrari and General Motors (Cadillac) have all joined the adventure.
