After the joys of the Parade on Friday, the big day arrived last Saturday for Mirko Bortolotti.

With the honour, but without doubt the pressure of starting the race. After a faultless initial stint, the Lamborghini driver gave up the wheel of the #32 Team WRT Oreca 07 in third position thanks to the stop sequences, but the first hurdle was passed without any problems.

Although the trio of the n°32 will not be able to aim for anything better than 11th place, finishing the 24 Hours of Le Mans remains a source of satisfaction for Mirko Bortolotti and his team-mates Dries Vanthoor and Rolf Ineichen.

The best WRT car, when the team had a tough race with the other crews, could have not finished the race due to a clutch problem in the final stages.

"I am extremely happy with how my first Le Mans went, said Mirko Bortolotti. The target was to have this wonderful experience with Team WRT and have as much mileage as possible.

I made good progress throughout the week and tried to learn as quickly as possible. I think we managed to prepare the car as best as possible and the team did a fantastic job.

I am grateful to Team WRT for having put together this third entry and for believing in me, and it was nice to be again with my ‘Belgian family’ for this first Le Mans I will never forget. For sure, we had the potential to do better but at least, we finished the race.”

The icing on the cake for Mirko was a second fastest time in the LM P2 class, proving once again that the Italian is a safe bet in any field. And Lamborghini, which will be entering the LMDh in 2024, knows this better than anyone.
