Giorgio Sanna (Lamborghini) and the LMDh with Ligier: "Our wish was to start from scratch"
7 Jun. 2022 ‧ 15:10
Lamborghini Squadra Corse is opening a new chapter in its history by entering the Hypercar category in 2024 with an LMDh prototype. For this purpose, the Italian brand has joined forces with Ligier Automotive. Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini's competition boss, spoke to Endurance-Info about this new project.
This announcement with Ligier Automotive comes as a surprise as many saw Lamborghini taking over the Audi LMDh project. Why this choice of Ligier and why not Multimatic ?
"I am very happy with this association with Ligier Automotive. The manufacturer has already proven itself in the past. We evaluated the different possibilities and took into account the timing. You don't do motorsport just to put a name on a car. Our wish was to start from scratch. This car will be born around our engine."
