News of the morning...
- ST Racing will run a BMW M4 GT3 in the 24 Hours of Spa at the end of July. Samantha Tan's team will be racing its second double lap of the year after the 24 Hours of Dubai last January.
- MMA has extended its partnership with the ACO by becoming the official insurer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans until 2035. And that's not all, as a trackside medical centre will be created. In order to further improve safety on the circuit and to provide rapid care for accident victims, a new Track Medical Centre will be set up as part of this partnership and will ensure the rapid evacuation of accident victims to hospital centres if necessary thanks to the construction of a helipad.
- The Ferrari 488 GTE/Kessel Racing will open the technical and administrative scrutineering of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Friday 3 June at 9.30am. The day will end with WRT. Glickenhaus Racing and Toyota Gazoo Racing will go through scrutineering on Saturday. The last team to go through will be Porsche GT Team at 14:50 (technical).
- The ex-Keke Rosberg Opel Calibra V6 is back in action this weekend in the DTM Classic Cup. Stefan Mücke and Ronny Scheer will share the wheel of the Opel at the Lausitzring. The Calibra, which was returned to its 1995 livery earlier this year, is maintained by Mücke Motorsport.
- The Opel Manta with its fox tail was scheduled to make a final appearance at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in a week's time. Unfortunately, the car of Volker Strycek, Olaf Beckmann, Peter Hass and Jürgen Schulten suffered a fire. The FIA-mandated battery caught fire, which caused damage to the entire rear end of the Manta.
