When Matthieu Vaxiviere and his teammates arrived at Spa-Francorchamps, they didn't really know what to expect with an Alpine that was handicapped by almost 30 horsepower. The second place of the Limousin driver in Belgium is positive before the big event of the year : the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Alpine driver is ready to move forward next month in Sarthe.

After the victory at the 1000 Miles of Sebring, a lot was expected from the Alpine Endurance Team at the 6H of Spa. The fact that for the Belgian meeting the Alpine boys had less power (-27 HP) caused Matthieu Vaxiviere, André Negrao and Nicolas Lapierre to have some doubts. By finishing second in the Belgian Ardennes, it is indeed the Alpine trio that will take the lead in the championship with an 18 point lead over the Glickenhaus Racing drivers before Le Mans. In the Constructors' Championship, Alpine leads Toyota by 5 points.
