42 cars for ELMS return to Imola !

The European Le Mans Series will return to the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari for the first time since 2016 and a huge grid of 42 cars will be on track for the 4 Hours of Imola on Sunday 15 May.

The Italian circuit will be hosting Round 2 of the 2022 season, with the rivalries that were started at Le Castellet last month resuming on the 4.9km track in the heart of the Emalia-Romagna region of Italy.

LMP2

 

- 17 LMP2 cars are entered for the 4 Hours of Imola.

 

- Championship leaders Prema Racing will be looking for victory at home in Italy.

- American Juan Manuel Correa will join Round 1 winners Louis Deletraz and Ferdinand Habsburg in the no9 Oreca-Gibson.

 

- The LMP2 grid will feature two Italian teams (Prema Racing, AF Corse) and three Italian drivers (Alessio Rovera, Francesco Dracone, Sergio Campana).

 

- The LMP2 grid features teams and drivers from 20 different nations.

 

- The grid features 7 reigning or former ELMS LMP2 Champions – Louis Deletraz, Yifei Ye, Phil Hanson, Paul Lafargue, Paul Loup Chatin, Memo Rojas, John Falb.

 

- The current leaders in the LMP2 Pro-Am championship, Racing Team Turkey, have an unchanged line up of Salih Yoluc, Charlie Eastwood and Jack Aitken.

 

- The no19 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca will feature the only two driver line up, with Sophia Floersch and Bent Viscaal looking to replicate their success at Le Castellet where they finished 2nd overall.

 

LMP3

 

- 13 LMP3 cars are entered for the 4 Hours of Imola.

 

- There are 12 Ligier JS P320s and 1 Duqueine M30-D08.

 

- Eurointernational will be representing Italy in LMP3, with the 2019 LMP3 Champions entering two cars. The team will be hoping to go one better than the first race in France where the no10 Ligier missed a podium finish by less than 5 seconds.

 

- The LMP3 grid features teams and drivers from 19 different nations.

 

- Championship leaders Cool Racing have an unchanged driver line up of Malthe Jakobsen, Michael Benham and Maurice Smith after a dominant 1 lap victory at Le Castellet.

 

- The no2 United Autosports and no5 RLR MSport Ligiers, which finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in Round 1, will also feature unchanged driver line ups for Round 2.

 

LMGTE

 

- 12 LMGTE cars are entered for the 4 Hours of Imola.

 

- Once again it is Ferrari v Porsche v Aston Martin, with 7 Ferrari F488 GTE EVOs on track at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

 

- One Italian team (Iron Lynx) and 6 Italian drivers will take part in the 4 Hours of Imola (Gabriele Lancieri, Fabrizio Crestani, Matteo Cressoni, Davide Rigon, Lorenzo Ferrari, Gianmaria Bruni).

 

- The LMGTE grid features teams and drivers from 20 different nations.

- Reigning LMGTE Champion Matteo Cressoni will be racing in the no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari alongside Davide Rigon and Claudio Schiavoni.

 

- Championship leaders Pierre Ehret and Nicolas Varrone will be joined by Gabriele Lancieri, the Italian replacing American Memo Gidley in the no32 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari.

 

- Proton Competition will have unchanged line ups in their two Porsche 911 RSR-19s after finishing 2nd and 3rd at Le Castellet.

 

- The 4 Hours of Le Castellet also saw the closest finish in ELMS history, with the no77 Proton Competition Porsche crossing the line just 0.12s behind the no32 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari after four hours of racing.- The Iron Dames line up of Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Sarah Bovy got their season off to a solid start, finishing 4th less than 15 seconds behind the winners, after Bovey led for a large part of the opening half of the race in the no83 Iron Lynx Ferrari.

 

The 4 Hours of Imola will take place on Sunday 15 May, with Free Practice and Qualifying on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 May.
