News of the day...
- With entries in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, Michelin Pilot Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup North America, it is an understatement to say that American Kyle Washington is busy this weekend at Laguna Seca.
- Alex Premat is definitely insatiable. Accompanied by Stevan McAleer, the 39-year-old Frenchman finished second in yesterday's Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Laguna Seca in the #28 RS1 Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS (see front page photo and below). This after starting from the front row of the grid.
- Benji Hites and Leonardo Pulcini rounded a perfect weekend by taking a second win at Estoril. The Oregon Team duo won also Race 2, after another perfect performance, beating the Optimum McLaren on Nick Moss and Joe Osborne. The Italian-Chilean pair obviously lead the standings, having collected a maximum of points.
- The GT World Challenge Europe meeting at Brands Hatch was a great success with no less than 27,500 people attending. The presence of Valentino Rossi was clearly a boost for the meeting. It took at least 30 minutes to leave the circuit after the race.
- The Ferrari 296 GT3, which is due to make its racing debut next season, is already looking like a hot success. According to some rumor in the paddock, more than 60 Ferrari 296 GT3s have already been sold. - Luckily WRT had a spare chassis at Brands Hatch for the GT World Challenge Europe, which allowed Thomas Neubauer and Benjamin Goethe to take part in race 2 after the big crash in race 1 earlier in the day. The Belgian team had come close to running a fifth chassis in the Sprint for Finlay Hutchison.
