DTM / Portimão - Sébastien Loeb : "My race pace wasn’t bad" (+ video)
When we see his race pace, it is sad that Sébastien Loeb did not manage to qualify better. But at 48 years old, the 9-times rally world champion can be satisfied with his performance against the world's leading GT3 drivers.
21st on the grid yesterday and 16th at the end, he started 27th today to pass under the chequered flag in 18th place at the wheel of the #37 Ferrari 488 GT3 / AlphaTauri colours.
“My race pace wasn’t bad considering I was making my debut in the series and the level is very high, did he say. I’m not so happy with the result as I think I could have done better in qualifying and when you start in 27th place it’s difficult to get a good result.”
“In the race I was able to get involved in some good battles and pull back some positions but qualifying played a big part in the final outcome. I had fun this weekend, the car is nice to drive and the team did a great job, so I was happy to race with them this weekend. I probably lacked a bit of preparation compared to the other drivers, but the championship is good and overall I enjoyed it.”
Will we see him again this season in the German series? Probably, as Nick Cassidy will also have to skip the Norisring round (2-3 July) as he will be in Vancouver (Canada) in Formula E.
