30 Apr. 2022 • 19:40
The first race of the GT Open 2022 season was stoped after a spectacular accident during the first lap.

The first race of the GT Open season had just started, when a big accident (video below) forced the race direction to put the red flag.

The Italian driver Alex Frassineti, driving the #8 Barone Rampante Lamborghini Huracan, was catapulted into the barrier after a contact with the #54 SPS Automotive Performance Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Yannick Mettler.

After bouncing back, the Huracan was then hit by the #11 Ferrari of Stephen Earle (Kessel Racing), followed by another 488 GT3: the #5 Olimp Racing car driven by Stanislaw Jedlinski.

While Jedlinski and Mettler tried to get back in the pit lane, both Earle and Frassineti got out of they car by themselves, although the latter seemed to be limping.

The race - available soon - was won by Benjamin Hites-Leonardo Pulcini in the #63 Oregan Team Lamborghini, which also placed the #19 Kevin Gilardoni-Glenn Van Berlo on the third step of the podium. Between them was the #72 McLaren of Nick Moss-Joe Osborne (Optimum Motorsport).
