Spectators can again look forward to a foray through almost 40 years of DTM history this season, courtesy of DTM Classic. The motorsport museum on wheels will delight fans at up to four events. It has already been confirmed that the classic Group A touring cars from the 1980s and high-tech Class 1 racers from the 1990s will be on show at the DTM highlights at the Norisring (7th and 8th July) and the Lausitzring (18th to 20th August).

The ADAC is changing the concept of DTM Classic for the 2023 season, in order to offer fans even more variety from the different eras of the DTM. The new concept puts the focus on different themes from throughout motorsport history. As well as cars from the technologically diverse history of the DTM and the former German Racing Championship, the ADAC is also planning competitive races and invitational races with vintage GT cars and sports cars under the umbrella of DTM Classic and within the framework of the DTM.

For the DTM Classic races, the ADAC is cooperating with various series organisers from the world of classic motorsport. The Tourenwagen Legenden kick off the 2023 DTM Classic season at the Norisring and the DEKRA Lausitzring, where they will line up in the same spectacular race cars that once battled it out on the track in the DTM/ITC between 1984 and 1996. More DTM Classic events with different themes are planned for the 2023 season.

“The DTM Classic is very popular with fans and complements any DTM event with its foray through the fascinating history of the DTM. We want to continue to delight fans with vintage race cars. However, we are changing the concept, as we want to make the DTM Classic an attractive addition and not compete with the established classic racing series,” says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.
