Two of the historic vehicle events that will highlight the centenary of the Le Mans 24 Hours have unveiled their posters.

If we've known for a long time now that Rétromobile and Le Mans Classic will celebrate the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year, we could not wait to see their official posters.   Two posters that put Porsche in the spotlight and that use the same colour codes as if to answer each other. It is interesting to note that this is the first time that a Porsche has appeared on the Rétromobile official poster, the 47th edition of which will be held from 1 to 5 February 2023 at Paris Expo at Porte de Versailles.

As seasoned racing car enthusiasts will already have gathered, the featured car is the 1968 works Porsche 907 (chassis no. 907-031, engine no. 907-022). For the very first time, Retromobile is showcasing this make on its poster, and with not just any model!

Having competed in the world’s leading races such as the Nürburgring 1000km, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche 907 is assuredly a firm favourite among all the make’s devotees.

The Porsche 907-031, the last but one built, left the workshop in Zuffenhausen a month before the Nürburgring race, with the final preparations carried out in May 1968.

Following a splendid result (4th), the car was serviced, and Porsche decided to sell it. A certificate dated 10 January 1969 and signed by Ferdinand Piëch indicates that 907-031 was sold to Alejandro Soler-Roig from Barcelona. In 1969, he competed with this Porsche 907-031 in several rounds of the International Championship with his team-mate, Rudi Lins, racing for the Escuderia Nacional CS. The 907-031 raced on several tracks between 1969 and 1973, with the following racing record.

Regarding the the poster of Le Mans Classic, no explanation has been given for the moment. However, we can see that the logo of the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is, unsurprisingly, prominently displayed. What we do know is that the ticketing will open on Wednesday 26th October.
