Acura Celebrates NSX GT3 Success Ahead of Final IMSA GTD Race
Acura and Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) look forward to celebrating the Acura NSX GT3's eight-year stretch in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on a high at this weekend's Motul Petit Le Mans.
Since its introduction at the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Acura NSX GT3 has enjoyed a successful campaign featuring multiple series titles and race wins in both IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and SRO GT World Challenge America competition.
The list of accomplishments includes 38 class wins in both IMSA and SRO; plus two manufacturers' championships, five drivers' titles and four teams' championships from 2017-2023.
The success of the car in the IMSA GTD class is highlighted by back-to-back drivers' and teams' championships for Meyer Shank Racing in 2019 [Mario Farnbacher, Trent Hindman] and 2020 [Matt McMurry, Farnbacher] with Acura also claiming the manufacturers' title in 2019.
"It's bittersweet to see the end of the NSX in IMSA competition," Honda Racing Corporation USA President, David Salters, said.
"It's a beautiful car and we've seen great success with it. It's also a very popular car amongst fans both in its race and road car variants. We've had some great results with the NSX in the GTD class—including two championship years and a victory right here at Petit Le Mans in 2022 for Gradient Racing.

While Petit marks the final race in IMSA competition, the NSX GT3 Evo22 will be eligible to continue in other series both in the United States and globally.
The NSX GT3 chassis, including the multi-material body structure and TIG-welded chrome-moly roll cage, was built alongside the production NSX at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio, exclusive worldwide manufacturing facility for the NSX1.
The production-based 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 racing engines were built alongside their production-vehicle counterparts at the Anna Engine Plant in Anna, Ohio1. The racing engine uses the same design specifications as the production NSX, including the block, heads, valve train, crankshaft, pistons and dry-sump lubrication system. A six-speed, sequential-shift racing gearbox delivers power to the NSX GT3's rear wheels. Final assembly was completed at JAS Motorsport in Italy.
