24H Daytona - Pfaff Motorsports prefers to stay in the garage
In three free practice sessions on Thursday the Porsche 911 GT3 R/Pfaff Motorsports only completed 39 laps with times that were far from the leading men.
Patrick Pilet, Laurens Vanthoor and Klaus Bachler, like all the other drivers of the Porsche 911 GT3 R '992', were not able to finish at the top of the GTD PRO and GTD class.
The team has communicated today on its social networks about the reasons for the lack of driving: "Regrettably, our Porsche 911 GT3 R will see a limited amount of running in the official practice sessions leading up to the race. While much has been written & said about the lack of pace shown by the Porsches at Daytona this past week, this is by no means a show of displeasure toward IMSA or their BoP process. We have confidence in their process, and this difficult decision was made to ensure we have a car/components in appropriate condition to start the race where our main goal will be to just survive, and gain places through attrition of our competitors. We thank you for your loyal support, and will fight hard with what we have come race day!"
