As Endurance-Info revealed several months ago, Proton Competition will switch to the Porsche 963 LMDh next season. The German team led by Michael and Christian Ried is thus moving up to the top class after several decades of success with Porsche in GT.

Proton Competition will run a Porsche 963 in the WEC and one in the IMSA, but as we reported in September, it is still unclear when the privateer teams who have ordered an LMDh made in Zuffenhausen will receive their new toy.

"For us, this step marks the beginning of a new era," says Christian Ried. "After more than 25 years of success in GT with Porsche, we are happy to take on a new challenge in endurance racing and to compete for overall victories in the two main endurance championships."

The drivers will be announced at a later date, but it is understood that Proton Competition will be drawing from the team's existing driver line-up.

The Hypercar entry will be in addition to the GTE. As a reminder, the German team will once again be present in the ELMS and WEC with several 911 RSR-19s (some of which will be entered under the Iron Lynx / Iron Dames banner), not to mention a presence in IMSA with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 defending the interests of WeatherTech Racing.
