Philippe Haezebrouck had a great time in a Ligier JS P4 at Paul Ricard
A jack-of-all-trades as long as there is a steering wheel and an engine, Philippe Haezebrouck never stops driving. At 67 years, the driver from Reims recently discovered the Ligier JS P4 in the Ligier European Series.
The French prototype, which serves as a launching pad for drivers who want to move up to LMP3, is a delight for seasoned gentlemen and more experienced drivers. For his baptism of fire in the JS P4, Philippe Haezebrouck has joined the Les Deux Arbres structure managed by the very famous Jack Leconte.
Rather than sharing the wheel with a team-mate, Philippe Haezebrouck drove solo, which allowed him to get a lot of track time.
Three questions to Philippe Haezebrouck:
How is the Ligier JS P4?
"It's a very good car, very pleasant to drive. Its strong point is its homogeneity. You can immediately feel that it's well built, healthy and easy to handle. Like all racing cars, it's not easy to get the last tenth. The Ligier JS P4 is intended for learning about endurance racing at the wheel of a prototype. I had a lot of fun at the wheel, even if I had to get used to a car that was very playful from the rear. I was on course to finish at the 4th place in race 2 before I had to serve a drive through."
You discovered Les Deux Arbres. What can you say about the team ?
"I had never drove for Jack Leconte's team, which remains an institution in the world of endurance racing. It is for me a very nice meeting because I discovered very serious and involved people. It also allowed me to meet again Jacques Nicolet with whom I was in business school in Paris in the past. I really had a good weekend on and off the track. I hope to have the opportunity to drive this JS P4 again."
Will we see you at the 24 Hours of Le Mans?
"I'm still looking for a drive in a Porsche or Ferrari in the GTE-Am, which would be my 6th participation. For the rest, I share my time on track between the Radical and Wolf prototypes where I have a lot of fun."
